Hi, I’m Oly — founder and owner of Legacy Bespoke Woodcraft.

I design and build bespoke fitted furniture and made-to-measure joinery for homes across Dorset and the surrounding areas. From built-in wardrobes and alcove units to bespoke bookcases, home offices and storage solutions, every piece is carefully designed to fit your space perfectly and built to last.

When you work with me, you get a truly personal service. I’m the one who’ll answer your messages, design your project, create each piece myself, and install it with care in your home. You’ll always know who’s turning up and who’s doing the work.

This isn’t production-line furniture. It’s thoughtful craftsmanship — delivered with precision, reliability and pride in every detail. I’m fully insured, professionally trained, and known for being tidy, friendly and easy to work with.

Why High-Quality MDF is the Right Choice

I only use high-quality moisture-resistant MDF — not the cheap, fluffy stuff from DIY stores. It’s stable, smooth and strong, and when it’s prepared and finished properly, it gives an exceptional result that blends beautifully into your home.

Because it’s so versatile to work with, I can add fine details like beading, subtle profiles and clean shadow lines that give a high-quality look — something chipboard or melamine can’t match. Every board is sanded and finished with a tiny round-over on the edges, so there are no harsh corners — just smooth, refined lines throughout. And once it’s decorated, you can refresh the colour in the future if your style changes, without replacing your furniture.

Oly was the third carpenter we contacted. The first two took measurements but didn't provide quotes or respond to messages. Oly sent a quote complete with a drawing and we made a few alterations. I cannot recommend Oly highly enough. He has undertaken six projects in our home over the summer, on site for six weeks. The projects included a 4m wide floor to ceiling storage and shelving unit, a four doored wardrobe fitted in to the eaves and a hall storage unit. Each project was finished to an exceptionally high standard. He was incredibly helpful with ideas and design solutions, he's practical and extremely communicative throughout the process from quote to completion.We are so so pleased with all of the projects, his work has immensely elevated the finish of our house. Oly removed some existing shelves and replaced with 6 bespoke cabinets. On his first visit he completely got the brief - matching the beading with the beading on our doors and the need for bespoke skirting as new skirting isn’t as high as what we needed for it to match with the rest of the existing. It took him 2 days to remove and fit them and we’re extremely happy with the result. Oly is a really skilled carpenter and a pleasure to work with. We will be (hopefully!) working with him for the rest of our carpentry needs on our house renovation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you build everything yourself?

Yes. From the first measurement to the final screw, it’s all me — I don’t subcontract and I don’t send anyone else.

What materials do you use?

I mostly use premium moisture-resistant MDF for almost all projects. It’s strong, stable and perfect for a painted finish. However, sometimes I use other materials such as hardwoods and melamine boards.

Can I paint it myself?

Absolutely. Many of my customers do. Or I can recommend a trusted decorator.

What areas do you cover?

I mostly work in and around Ferndown, Wimborne, Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and surrounding areas.
